Jeff Davis - Professional Clinician of the Clinton Anderson Academy

Jeff is one of 4 Professional Clinicians in the Downunder Horsemanship Method by Clinton Anderson.

He is teaching clinics all over the US and working the horses Clinton Anderson is showing during the Walkabout Tours.

The passion to help others and the desire to share his knowledge sent Jeff on the path of becoming a Certified Clinician. “I love training horses and I've always liked teaching people. If I can share my knowledge with you, I'm going to do it,” he says.

more about Jeff Davis

Ground Work & Riding

You will learn how to train your horse on the ground and in the saddle. Depending on your skills and the horses training you can build up from there, so each level is welcome.

As this is a horsemanship clinic where you are trained to teach your horse, all riding disciplines are welcome. Each horse needs a good foundation, no matter of the riding discipline or equipment you use.

So it doesn't matter if you are riding dressage, jumping, reining or recreation. You and your horse will profit from this training.

You get a hands-on training, depending on where you are right now in your training. When explaining the lesson Jeff might use your horse, if you agree. There is no other way your horse could learn the lesson any faster than this way!

Does your horse have any behavior problems you would like to work on? Probably it will go away with a good foundation in your groundwork training. But nevertheless feel free to train this in the morning before the clinic starts or afterwards, as Jeff will be there for you and your horse the whole week.

Please note that the clinic is structured as kind of a privat lesson. Each participant will train at his particular level, focusing on exceeding that level throughout the clinic.

Fundamentals:

You will work on

  • One Rein Stops
  • Backing up
  • Lunging for respect
  • Yielding the Hind- and Forequarters
  • Vertical flexion
  • Cruising
  • Cloverleaf
  • Roll Backs
  • Post 'n Circle
  • Bending at the walk
  • Side passing
  • and much more...

Intermediate/Advanced:

You will work on

  • Vertical Flexion
  • Yield & Bend
  • Post N'Circle
  • Rollbacks
  • Shoulder in/out
  • Serpentine Exercise
  • Sidepass
  • Stop on Whoa
  • and much more...

Location: Manege Meulendijks

We have the perfect training location for our DUH clinics. Situated in Heeze near Eindhoven, the Ranch is not only close to the freeway A67 and A2, it is also situated directly at the entrance to the recreation area Strabrechtse Heide. Therefore you don't have to spend hours cruising through the country with your trailer. To get your horse safe on the trail we are also able to go outside for a ride.

Your horse will love the high-end ground of the arenas and feel save when doing his maneuvers like rollbacks.

You will love the big indoor and outdoor arenas. No matter what the weather will be, you always can concentrate on the training and not be bothered with heat or rain.

During the breaks you can take a comfortable rest at the café to eat and drink something with your mates. In the evening you are welcome to join us for a dinner at different restaurants in Geldrop.

Perfect training conditions

The clinic takes place at Manege Meulendijks in NL-Heeze near Eindhoven, 50 km from Venlo (German border).

Depending on the weather we can either train inside in the huge 26 x 110 m arena or outside in the 70 x 70 m arena with all-weather-ground. Another indoor and outdoor arena are also available in case we split the group for separate training.

Take a break

This is a very intensive week, not only for your horse but also for you. You might want a cold coke, a coffee or some icecream during the breaks.

For the lunch break take a rest at the big café. Eat something, relax, chat and have a drink.

Depending on the weather, get seated outside in front of the big outdoor arena or inside with panorama view of the inside arena.

For dinner you are welcome to join us at a restaurant nearby.

Manu & Elli Graf

We are a mother and daughter duo from Germany, Bavaria. We traveled 8hours with our two Quarter Horses for this year's Clinic. We knew the long drive was worth it to gain new experiences and make great progress as it was our third clinic with Jeff.
The last clinics in Germany (2019 & 2022) taught us so much that we immediately agreed to go to the clinic in the Netherlands. Jeff is a great teacher who takes his time for every participant. With his patient way of explaining all the exercises, you never feel helpless. His professional handling of every horse fascinates us every time and because of his great knowledge we had many "aha" moments. You will push your limits so that you fall into bed tired every night. But at the end it's worth every drop of sweat and dirty jeans when you can look back on all the successes of the week. We‘re looking forward for our 4th clinic next year!

Annemiek Ariëns

I’m Annemiek from the north of the Netherlands and I want to share my experience with the clinic from Jeff Davis in the Netherlands. First of all I was amazed at the high standard of Jeff as a teacher and horse trainer. His commitment and willingness to help you further is enormous. I’m also impressed by his working attitude. He starts early , ends late and always stays in a good mood. He also has a great voice. You really like to listen to his voice. He speaks loud without shouting. You can easily hear him talk in a big arena with 13 participants and 13 horses. His teaching is very systematic, pushing you through the fundamentals and a few extras without slacking off towards the end. In previous classes I have rarely become so tired, I only got that when I did the homework. But with Jeff you really get the feeling that you are working hard. I was never bored and very satisfied with what I achieved. I have knowledge of the Clinton Anderson method since 2017 and I used it to train 3 young horses. They all had 3 months training from a professional horse trainer to break them in. After that they came home and I can assure you that when I hadn’t follow the method it wouldn’t have been safe for me to ride these horses. So the standard of the method, the video’s, the explanation, the teaching is very high. I’m living proof of that. It really kept me safe with riding and around my horses. In 2020 the course I wanted to join with my 6 year old gelding was cancelled because of Corona. Again a year later. So I was hesitating a little because I felt safe riding my horse and enjoyed what we had reached in 4 years. To join the course I had to take days off from work and persuade my husband. But something told me to do it and I don’t regret. It gave me a lot extra. When you just do the Clinton videos and you listen very well you still don’t hear everything. When you have the chance to have life supervision by Jeff, to see him work with horses, to get his feedback you get so much further with the horse. And there is humor with it. I brought a gaited horse so they don’t perform that well especially with some exercises. But the horsemanship is no different with them and really important to connect to the horse and make them good willing partners. Best wishes, and THANK YOU Jeff!!!
